Our clients aren't used to
having all of the data availablethey're used to operating on
only one or two percent and watching some real-time monitors. Their
staff isn't experienced in monitoring and
analyzing operations
through interval data. IDS Monitoring Services are designed as an ongoing
effort that augments your own staff and apprentices them into the
diagnostic techniques IDS uses. Monitoring services start once the initial set of issues found through
the
diagnostic program are being resolved. We'll review the chillers,
air handling systems, primary and secondary cooling loops, etc.
through the interval
data on a regular basis (daily to weekly) to verify that your campus/facility is
operating smoothly. Our continuous monitoring provides a variety of
benefits:
- Ensure the operational changes made as a result of earlier
diagnostics have the desired impact and do not inadvertently
cause issues elsewhere.
- Provide ongoing data collection to justify future capital
expenditures to improve energy systems.
- Show new problems that might suddenly arise due to
malfunctioning equipment.
- Verify that the installation of new equipment is having the
intended impact without negatively affecting existing
operations.
- Catch necessary operational and control changes needed due
to seasonal weather changes.
- Track cost savings attributed to changes made as a result of
earlier monitoring and diagnostics.
Our clients find a great value in IDS Monitoring
Services, especially during the first year of operation as they
develop their own in-house expertise at analyzing EnergyWitness™ data.
We See it All Because We've Seen it All

Monitoring RH sensor data from two different building automation systems. The total lack of uniformity of the graphs
shows that at least one of the sensors is out of calibration or flat out broken.

With years of experience in running facilities, working on
control systems, and working for utilities, the IDS monitoring team
is unsurpassed in their knowledge of how energy systems work and
interoperate. We're pioneers in the use if interval data to manage
energy systems.
Because we've seen it all, from components that are
faulty or out of calibration to fundamental design problems, we know
what the data should look like for a properly running campus,
central utility plant, building, or piece of equipment. And,
when problems are still lurking, we see them all because they show
up in the data. Our clients are often amazed (and then grateful they
found us) that in one week of monitoring we can provide more insight
to improving operations than the entire on-site staff with 10+ years
experience.
As part of IDS Monitoring Services, we'll examine your system on
a regular basis (frequency determined based on your needs and site
specifics). We can do this remotely by looking at the interval
data captured in EWDataRepository. With each review, we'll send a brief
report electronically (no need to waste energy and trees on paper
reports) that outlines what we've seen. This will include:
- General statement about operations.
- Verification of any specific issues we're monitoring. (e.g. If
during the past week we changed the approach temperature on the
chillers from 3° to 4°, we'll note if it had the intended impact.)
- Review of any new issues discovered along with
recommendations for course of action (we'll contact operations
personnel immediately by phone to alert them to issues as they
are identified).
We understand that this is a whole new approach to managing
energy systems. And for that reason, there's no better way to take
advantage of the wealth of information EnergyWitness makes available
than through IDS Monitoring Services.
