Continuously Extracting Value from Massive Data Archives

Interval Data Systems was a presenter at the first annual MatrikonOPC Conference, held in Houston, TX back in October 2005. OPC, a communications standard that began in the process control industry is now widely used in the building control and facilities operations world.

This presentation looks at what it takes to create a massive data archive of building operations data using OPC as the communications technology. In simplistic terms, there are two major issues—getting the data in, and getting the data out. That is, collecting data from the building systems into the archive (getting data in), and presenting actionable information to the user from the archive (getting data out).
