Web Based Energy Information and Control Systems: Case Studies and Applications was published
by CRC Press in
August 2005. It was the second in a series of three books edited by Barney Capehart, Ph.D., dealing with the topic of information systems
for energy management. Barney combined two papers
from Interval Data Systems to create chapter 32 of the book,
"Defining the Next Generation Enterprise Energy Management
System."
The first of the two papers was the IDS white paper on
Enterprise Energy Management Systems by the same name, which describes how
information can be used to reduce costs, increase
efficiency, and improve energy planning and cost allocation, all
while improving or maintaining building comfort.
The second part of the chapter came from an extensive case
study done of a hospital in Florida where a data-driven analysis
identified well over a quarter million dollars in energy waste
annually within the chilled water plant and distribution
system.
