Automated Metering & Cost Allocation (AMCA)
  University of Arkansas, Fayetteville

At CAPPA 2005 we had the privilege to deliver a joint presentation with the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville (UAF). The talk addressed the general topic of utility billing and cost allocation—specifically, UAF's Automated Metering and Cost Allocation (AMCA) system.

The presentation offers details and insights into UAF's ongoing effort of transforming their utilities group into a standalone business to support the school's master plan, including topics such as:

  • the business reasons behind their change,

  • goals of AMCA and how it fits into larger efforts,

  • technical and management challenges,

  • the convergence of IT and facilities, and

  • details of the AMCA system itself.
