Better Building Start with Better Information

Arming facilities execs with information for better decision-making was the subject of one of the sessions at Building Automation 2007 Conference, in Baltimore, MD. Kevin Fuller, executive vice president of Interval Data Systems, discussed methodologies for measuring cost, comfort, and other key building performance indicators. It concluded with observations of the root cause of most building HVAC operational problems.

Integrating the "Un-integrated"

Also at the Building Automation 2007 Conference, IDS's CEO, Bill Gnerre, discussed some of the potential pitfalls of building integration projects. He showed some typical building behaviors that are symptoms of the lack of well-designed integration controls, and discussed an approach for fixing them, resulting in a well-integrated control system that can be effectively integrated with other systems to create an intelligent building.
