Q: Can I perform the
Scorecard Analysis myself?
A: Absolutely. IDS can teach you
how to generate your own scorecards. Evaluating and
correcting building performance is a core skill set
that should be maintained internally, not
outsourced.
Q: How long does it take
to analyze a building?
A: It is related to the
size and complexity of the building, but for a large
building, setup and the initial evaluation takes a
few days. Subsequent re-evaluations are done in a
few hours.
Q: What are the pass/fail
criteria?
A: For comfort, temperature setpoints must
be maintained and held within a reasonable range,
typically 68°F to 74°F (or 76°F, depending on site preference/standards).
Efficiency issues consist of unwarranted
simultaneous cooling and heating, reheat when VAV
boxes are not at cooling minimum airflow, minimum
airflow that is higher than required for
ventilation, and a variety of equipment-specific
evaluations for Subsystem Scorecards.
Operations criteria include missing sensor inputs,
wildly oscillating parameters, sensor calibration or
placement issues, and spikes in control system
readings.
For more detail, see the
BOSS
criteria page.
Q: Do you address IAQ
performance?
A: Yes. The underlying
EnergyWitness system can provide detailed thermal
comfort and ventilation indices, based on ASHRAE
standards 55-2004 and 62.1-2004 respectively, on a
room-by-room basis.
Q: How do I quantify my
energy savings?
A: Since the data for the
BOSS is constantly tracked by the underlying
EnergyWitness system, you can always interactively
view detailed consumption and cost measurements (raw
or normalized), at the building, system, subsystem,
or equipment level. It’s an unprecedented level of
measurement and verification to quantify savings.
Q: How do I contact IDS
about getting a scorecard for my buildings?
A: Just give us a call at 617-744-1091, or
send an e-mail to
info@intdatsys.com. We'll happily provide an in-depth demo of
how we set up and score buildings, and make
arrangements to see how your buildings score.
